Things just keep getting from bad to worse for Ben Stokes. With the English all-rounder already suspended indefinitely during the investigation for his part in a late night brawl in Bristol last month, Stokes has now been dropped by his kit manufacturer New Balance.
The USA based company issued a statement, saying Stokes’ behavior ‘doesn’t match our brand culture & values”. The statement also confirmed their sponsorship for him has also been cancelled as of October 11 with them making no further comment. This sees Stokes lose almost 200,000 pound per year. All these incidents just piles on the pressure for Stokes who might have to sit out one of the most prestigious series for an Englishman. England will also suffer for his behavior, losing one of their star players before an away series in Australia.
Stokes was seen apologizing on Twitter for allegedly mocking British celebrity Katie Price’s disabled son with a video of him doing the rounds in social media where he impersonated Harvey Price who suffers from ADHD, Prader-Willi syndrome, Autism & blindness. He’s now publicly apologized through Twitter. Stokes said, “I saw a clip of Harvey being asked on Loose Women how he responds to internet trolls. I loved his straight forward answers. He said things most people wouldn’t be brave enough to say on live national TV. It was extremely mean & foolish from me to impersonate him. I apologize to him & Katie. I have written to both Harvey and Katie to say sorry and I plan to meet them to join in their movement to stop online bullying. It was my fault and I hope to put things right”.
