South Africa: 573/4 Dec. (Markram 143, Du Plessis 135*, Amla 132, Elgar 113; Subashish 3/118)
Bangladesh: 147/10 (Liton 70; Rabada 5/33, Olivier 3/40) & 7/0
The rampant South Africans have once again absolutely torn Bangladesh apart. Declaring at a mammoth total of 573 for 4 after lunch, with 4 out of 5 batsmen scoring tons, South African bowlers were on absolute rampage mode. Bangladesh could only put up with them for a mere 42.5 overs with a score of just 147 before being all out. Once again, the main destroyer was the Proteas’ pace man KagisoRabada, who took 5 wickets. Rabada’s fellow pacer Olivier chipped in with 3 wickets. Just 4 of Bangladesh’s 10 batsmen got into double figures with keeper Liton Kumar Das (70) almost scoring half of his side’s total.
After being bowled out & still trailing the opponents by a staggering 426 runs, Bangladesh were invited to bat again by Proteas skipper Faf Du Plessis. In the brief 1.2 overs of their second innings, Bangladesh scored 7 for no loss before umpire Bruce Oxenford called stumps, much to the relief of the visitors. Bangladesh are now staring down at yet another innings defeat at the hands of South Africa.
