Pacer Wayne Parnell has been ruled out of the remaining two ODIs against Bangladesh due to a groin strain. The South Africa Cricket Board has named All-rounder Wiaan Mulder as his replacement.
Mulder plays for Lions in the South African cricket league. He made his first-class debut in 2016 and his List-A debut earlier this year. He did feature in the tour game between CSA XI and Bangladesh.
Besides Mulder, all-rounder Robbie Frylinck earned a maiden call-up to the T20I squad for the two-match series against Bangladesh following the ODIs.
CSA National Selection Panel member Linda Zondi said, “The selection of Robbie provides another opportunity to explore our depth in the important all-rounder position. Apart from his bowling strengths he has a proven record as a finisher with the bat,” The selectors have given a well deserved rest to Kagiso Rabada and Imran Tahir following their long tours in all formats. Zondi believes this series will help Shamsi & Ohangiso to showcase their talent. The two T20Is will be held in Bloemfontein and Potchefstroom on October 26 and 29 respectively.
Squad for T20Is: Faf du Plessis (capt), Hashim Amla, Farhaan Behardien, Quinton de Kock, AB de Villiers, JP Duminy, Robbie Frylinck, Beuran Hendricks, David Miller, Mangaliso Mosehle, Dane Paterson, Aaron Phangiso, Andile Phehlukwayo, Tabraiz Shamsi
