English all-rounder Ravi Bopara is no stranger to various T-20 leagues all around the world; having already featured in lucrative tournaments like IPL, BPL, BBL, PSL etc. With the experienced Bopara ready to represent Rangpur Riders in this year’s Bangladesh Premier League, he’s confessed that it’s the inspirational captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza whom he’s most excited to take to the field with.
Speaking to the media ababout the tournament, Bopara said, “There have been big players in the past, like last year you had Kumar Sangakkara and Dwayne Bravo and the competition has always been good in Bangladesh and there are some good spin players here. A lot depends on the pitches – if they are good we are going to have a good tournament. If they are bad then it will be interesting. We expect competition against every team, but we have got the team”. Bopara also said that he feels at home in the Riders setup as he knows the working methods followed by head coach Tom Moody as he’s already played under him.
Bopara was particularly excited about being on the same team as Mashrafe: “Mash is a type of guy you want to play for,” he pointed out. “He gives 100 percent so you have to give 100 percent. It is good for any team. Nobody can be lazy with Mash. He is a good cricketer. He is a very accurate bowler, and he can smack the ball against the spinners. He has authority, which is good.”
Rangpur Riders will take on Rajshahi Kings on the opening day (November 4) in Sylhet.
