After sustaining an injury in his right shin, Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir has been ruled out of the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka. The news comes as a major setback for Pakistan who have now lost their premier pacer for about a month.
Amir first felt pain in his shin late on day one. He left the field after bowling his 17th over. But the overnight rest did lessen the pain as Amir returned to bowl on day two. But he could only manage three overs before feeling pain again & this time, he left the field for good. An MRI scan confirmed he’s indeed suffered a stress injury in his right shin with the doctors advising him to rest for a minimum of two to three weeks.
A PCB statement read,
“The fast bowler has been advised two to three weeks rest after he underwent an MRI scan today following complains of pain in his right shin. He will not bowl in the ongoing test match but will bat if required”.
Amir will now miss the ODI series against the Lankans starting from 13th October.
