Bangladesh just can’t catch a break on their tour against South Africa. After a dismal test series, Bangladesh takes to the field today in the first ODI against the Proteas and they have to make do without the services of one if their finest in the shape of Mustafizur Rahman. The left arm sensation twisted his ankle while warning up before training yesterday & now looks in danger to miss the whole ODI series.
Although he suffered the injury yesterday, The Fizz hasn’t had a scan to determine the extent of his injury yet. Bangladesh’s chief selector & team manager Minjasul Abedin Nannu said to The Daily Star, “Mustafiz twisted his ankle in the warm-up before training. He won’t play tomorrow. We don’t know whether he’ll available for the series. We’ll know more when we go to Cape Town (venue of second ODI). We haven’t had a scan yet”. With Mustafiz out, Bangladesh will be bopsted with the returns of top all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan & inspirational skipper Mahsrafe Bin Mortaza. Opener Tamim Iqbal may also come back after nursing a foot injury that kept him out of the second test.
Bangladesh will end the series with two T-20 matches after the ODI series. Those matches will be on October 26 and 29 at Bloemfontein & Potchefstroom respectively.
