Fans in the Rajiv Gandhi International stadium at Hyderabad were let down by the heavy showers as the 3rd & final T-20 was washed out without a ball being bowled between India & Australia. As a result, the T-20 series ends in a 1-1 draw. Initially the match was scheduled at 7.00 PM Indian local time but the toss was delayed due to the weather. There was rain & thunderstorm in the weather forecast prior to the match but despite those issues, the outfield condition itself was not that good either for the match to go on.
Even at 5PM IST, The ground staff were seen running around covering up the vast brown patches around the field, caused by the heavy rain on Thursday, with sawdust. But despite their best efforts, the field wasn’t suitable enough to play on according to match referee Richie Richardson and the umpires. Despite the precautionary covers on the field by the staff, the rain eventually didn’t come at all but the dampness of the field didn’t get better. India now turn their attentions to New Zealand while Australia go back to prepare for, arguably their biggest series of this year, The Ashes.
