The Sri Lankan board has decided to drop two veterans in the shape of Lasith Malinga& Angelo Mathews for the ODI series against Pakistan. While they didn’t have any choice but to drop the latter who’s been suffering from a chronic right calf injury, the board decided to leave Malinga out due to his recent indifferent form.
Since his return into the national team, Malinga has never really discovered his old self. And after a relatively average series against India at home, the legend has faced the axe.
Skipper Angelo Mathews has been suffering from a calf problem for well over six months. He played the Champions trophy as a batman but did resume bowling against India. Unfortunately, the all-rounder was once again injured in the practice session for the Pakistan series. Mathews had a scan last Monday which confirm the situation is indeed serious as he faces another period on the side-lines.
