From being a relatively nobody to the name on every cricket fans’ lips, Australian pacer Jason Behrendorff has taken the cricketing world by storm in only his 2nd ever International match. The tall lefty was given the man of the match award for his brilliant figures of 4 for 21. During that match, rather than his scintillating bowling, the internet was going bananas over his likeliness with veteran WWE superstar John Cena. When asked about it, Behrendorff simply laughted off the comparison.
“He’s a bit bigger than I am” was his first reaction after controlling his amusement. By saying Cena’s bigger than he, Behrendorff meant the physique difference because the tall Aussie stands at 6’4” whereas Cena’s height is 6”1”. After the fun & games, the pacer gave his take on the match by saying, “It’s an unbelievable feeling for me. I wanted to make my mark & most importantly, to take the side to victory. And thankfully, my wishes came true. It was a morale boosting win as we had a very tough ODI series”.
Behrendorrf’s start wasn’t particularly memorable. He conceded two boundaries in the first two deliveries but trapped Rohit in front with a late inswinger. He then dismissed Kholi with a similar delivery. After picking up Dhawna & Pandey, he finished off with 4 wickets for just 21.
With pacers Mitchell Starc & Josh Hazelwood out injured, Behrendorff can be a vital cog in the pace battery for the Aussies in the near future.
