With just over three weeks until the new season of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) starts, some of the franchises are considering to fine tune their squads by trying to recruit players who are now free because of the postponed T-20 Global league in South Africa.
The franchises who are leading this tinkering, are the ones having the most Pakistani players. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made it mandatory for all of the centrally contracted players to take part in the domestic T-20 National cup. Because of this tournament, the likes of Mohammad Amir, Rumman Raees will miss the first two weeks of BPL this year.
Comilla Victorians & Khulna Titans are the most active franchises looking for the players from the global league pool. Chittagong Vikings are the franchise with lowest number of foreigners and they are also looking to sign more international stars. The very first edition of the league was scheduled to commence from November 3 but it has been postponed to November 2018. Therefore players like AB De Villiers, Faf Du Plessis, JP Duminy could be available for the BPL Franchises. Other than them, international stars like Brendon McCullum, Dwayne Smith, Dwayne Bravo can also be looked upon.
Dhaka Dynamites, strongly agreed upon j having the strongest side on paper, are also on the lookout for more marquee players. CEO Obeid Nizam said, “Despite a near complete squad, we are still keen on signing more big names”.
With the likes of Shahid Afridi, Sunil narine, Shane Watson already in, Dhaka will be almost unbeatable if they sign more world class players.
