After the first ODI defeat against New Zealand, the BCCI has announced India’s squad for the first two of the three tests against New Zealand. On Monday (October 23), the decision was confirmed with the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Murali Vijay, Rohit Sharma all returning for the men in blue.
Sidelined due to a shoulder injury, Murali Vijay has since recovered and reclaimed his spot in the squad. On the other hand, hard hitting opener Rohit’s last Test came back in 2016 against New Zealand. He played his last Test during the 2016 Border-Gavaskar series. His performance remained disappointing as the veteran pacer picked up only 3 wickets playing three Tests in the series. Like his namesake, Ishamt also played his last test back in 2016.
India has called upon pacers, with the likes of Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar all joining Ishant. The spin department is also well equipped with Ashwin & Jadeja leading the line.
Virat Kohli (c), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Murali Vijay, KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Hardik Pandya, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
